THE inaugural Buckfast Abbey Dash had Teignbridge Trotters’ members taking part in all disciplines- 5km (one lap), 10k (two laps) and the half-marathon (four laps).

Starting outside the Abbey, the route was a multi-terrain course running along the River Dart and through the Abbey grounds. Straight into a hilly wooded section, gravel tracks, grassy paths and fields before heading back into the woods and then back to the Abbey for another lap or two.

It was fun and absolutely baking hot!

In terms of the results and there was a pair of Trotters in the 5k race. Jaque Shackleton and Katie Heaton were amongst 77 total finishers, coming home in 43:54, 36th and 57:52, 66th, respectively.

A whopping 155 people took on the 10k and there were six of Teignbridge’s finest battling it out there.

Adam Doherty in 01:00:18 (43rd), Geoff Woods in 01:03:42 (52nd and second v60), Lucy Payne in 01:09:14 (74th and first v70), Mark Wooton in 01:13:00 (96th), Darren Petch in 01:18:33 (118th) and Ed Hounsell in 01:19:48 (124th and second v70).

Roger was 8th in 50 minutes, 2nd V50. The course was well marked and marshalled and low cost to enter, being part of the Dartmoor Fell Race Series. Next in the series is the Haytor Heller on Friday, September 5.
