THOUSANDS of people are expected to line 93 miles of Devon’s roads as the Tour of Britain heads to the county next week.
Crowds are being tipped to exceed last year’s record of 230,000 spectators who lined the route in Devon.
Chudleigh are celebrating the event in style and are laying on live music and entertainment to mark the occasion.
Starting at 12.30pm there will be belly and Morris dancers, folk and jazz bands and much more ahead of the arrival of the race which is expected to pass through the town at around 2.50pm.
The race starts at 11.30am in Sidmouth and is expected to reach Moretonhampstead by 2pm and finish at Haytor by 3.10pm.
Cllr George Gribble, Teignbridge Council’s deputy leader and executive spokesman for recreation and leisure said: ‘We look forward to welcoming thousands of cycling fans for a memorable day in our beautiful district.
‘With so many fantastic view points along the Devon route, we encourage those coming along to plan their day so it is both enjoyable and safe.
‘This is a flagship event for Teignbridge and one which we take great pride in being involved with.’
