VOLUNTEERS working to improve the waterway through Dawlish have been given a boost after a kingfisher was spotted back on the water.
WADE - Waterways Around the Dawlish Environment - has been told at least one of the colourful birds has been seen back in the town.
The team was contacted by a witness who said: ‘I am sure you will be happy to hear that at least one kingfisher is back in town, flying along Dawlish Brook, and I think a lot of the good work that you and the Wade team have done, with re-wilding along and around the Brook will have helped the kingfisher return.’
The bird was seen along with a small swarm of insects and a few large fish in the Brook.
