AN AWARD-WINNING cooking class has clocked up 250 meals.
Slow Cooker Saturday classes run at the Courtenay Centre in Newton Abbot over the winter, teaching students how to make a easy meal.
Now in its third year, the classes run once a month and offer the chance to learn how to cook affordable, nutritious meals using a slow cooker.
A spokesman said: ‘The free classes are organised so
people prep the food then leave it to cook for the day in slow cookers, they then return to collect the meal for them to enjoy at home.
‘It's free all ingredients and equipment provided and it is a small, friendly group.
‘The classes help people budget cook and learn cooking skills including chopping and food prep.’
They are run by volunteers Anja Kroening-Maynard and Emma Scanlon who won the Stars of Teignbridge award for Slow Cooker Saturdays in the Equity and Inclusion Category for all her hard work as a volunteer.
