WORK has started on repairs to Teignmouth’s prom following damage caused by Storm Ciarán last November.

Contractors have moved on site to carry out the repairs along the seafront.

Work to repair damaged walls, flower beds and paving slabs started on Monday and is scheduled to be completed before the Easter holidays.

Teignbridge Council has warned the timescale for the work is dependent on the weather.

A spokesman said: ‘Businesses along the seafront have been notified and the contractors will do everything possible to minimise disruption.’

Cllr Robert Phipps said he was ‘pleased’ to see the rebuilding work had started.

Some residents have raised concerns that the repair work needed to be strong enough to withstand any further storms.
