Two marathon runners from Teignmouth Lifeboat Station have raised more than £5,000 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) after successfully completing the 2025 TCS London Marathon.

Boathouse visits volunteer Anne Steele Arnett and training officer Rosie Alterman both completed the TCS London Marathon on Sunday (April 27).

Anne, who only started running 18 months ago following a hand operation, completed her second London Marathon in 5 hours and 35 minutes.

She smashed her £2,000 fundraising target and has so far generated nearly £4,000 in sponsorship.

Anne has been volunteering for Teignmouth RNLI for the last 23 years and is a familiar face at the boat house where she warmly welcomes visitors and shares stories about the lifesaving work of the station.

‘I’m so pleased to have been able to run in support of Teignmouth RNLI,’ Anne said.’ The station means so much to me and it’s been a privilege to take on the marathon knowing every step helps the RNLI’s lifesaving work. I’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone who donated and cheered us on.’

Former boat crew member Rosie now volunteers as training officer and supports the operational crew in maintaining the high standards of training required for rescue work. She has raised nearly £2,000 from her marathon efforts.

‘Running the marathon was an incredible experience,’ Rosie commented. ‘I’m so grateful to everyone who supported us and helped us reach such a fantastic amount of money.’

Teignmouth RNLI congratulated Anne and Rosie for their achievements.

‘Anne and Rosie have shown true dedication and determination not only in training for and running the marathon, but in their incredible efforts to raise vital funds to help save lives at sea,’ said Teignmouth RNLI fundraising chair Wendy Richards Wood.
