THERE’S a chance to spruce up your wardrobe at a Clothes Swap taking place in Dawlish.

Organised by Sustainable Dawlish, the event will be an opportunity to donate quality clothing no longer needed and swap for other items.

Saturday’s swap is being held at the Manor House.

A spokesman for Sustainable Dawlish said: ‘It has been calculated that the average UK household owns more than £4,000 worth of clothes almost half of which have not been worn for over a year.

‘So with the support of Reuse / Recycle Devon, we want to give you the chance to revitalise your wardrobe without having to buy anything new.

‘This not only saves on energy and raw materials associated with the manufacturing process and on distribution and transport of new items to reach you, but also reduces your carbon footprint and impact on our atmosphere and environment.’

Registration starts at 9.30am when clothes, footwear and accessories can be dropped off until 10.30am.

Tickets will be issued for each exchange item.

Organisers will check the condition of items before sorting them ahead of the exchange which starts at 11am.

Donations will be sorted by garments such as tops, trousers, skirts, shoes and accessories.

Anyone interested can take along up to six items of clean and dry clothing to swap.

Tickets issued can then be exchanged for other donated items.

Refreshments will be available from Dawlish Fair Trade Friends.

Any unsold items will be donated to charity.
