TEIGNBRIDGE Trotters, one of the largest running clubs in Devon staged their annual Totnes 10K and 1-mile Fun Run on Sunday August 4 in good conditions. The 6.5m undulating trail race was confirmed for the third year running with all records up for grabs as 519 runners took part.
The scenic route through the beautiful Dartington Estate was won by local Ceri Rees improving on last year's 2nd finishing in a time of 38:39, followed by the improving Oli Reynolds of Teignbridge Trotters (38:54), Matthew Gilvear of Erme Valley Harrier came third again (40:38).
Richard Edwards (41:04), and 5th Joel Heatley, South West Road Runners (41:21). First lady across the line was the visiting Louise Flynn of Les Croupiers RC in a new record of 44.14, winning £125.
She was followed by Fiona German of the South West Road Runners (44:33), long-standing race top finisher Ellie Dominey 3rd in 45:38, Lauren Knox Storm, Plymouth (46:07) and Amy Jones 5th, SWRR (46:20).
There were many standout performances with over 40 prize winners. Seven new vet category course records were set with serious competition across multiple categories for cash prizes.
Newcomer Corey Date (50:27), in his first-ever race, won the U18 male prize for Teignbridge Trotters as well as featuring in the winning men's team. The ladies' team prize was won by Haldon Trail Runners. 1st female U18- Sophie Gilvear- 1:02:55.
Rod Payne as Race Director said: ‘The race and Fun run were well supported, it was a fabulous event. We will be delighted to be make another large donation to our chosen race charity, Totnes Caring who we have supported for years thanks to our many volunteers and the event competitors.
“Our thanks to Sibelco, Empire Scaffolding, The Albert Inn for their continued sponsorship of the event and Totnes Leisure Centre for all their help. Runners were able to refuel after the race with a choice from the wonderful selection of homemade cakes, tea & coffee, a BBQ and Albert Ale, an award-winning beer brewed in The Albert Inn, Totnes.

The 1-mile Fun Run, which started before the main race, attracted 149 finishers. The route around the perimeter of the park received a lot of crowd support.
First home and overall race winner was Leon Snell of Torbay AAC in 05:02, followed by last year's winner Tara Ferguson, running for Windsor Slough Eton & Hounslow AC, 20 seconds quicker than last year in a great time of 05:07.
3rd Joshua Edwards (05:44), 4th Thomas Hilyard (05:48), 5th Ralph Edwards (05:48). It was fabulous to see the many stars of the future giving it their all.
